In the midst of controversy over the absence of a Palestinian in Google Maps, a company based in Mountain View, California, United States introduced three new feature for Android.

Some of them are Wi-Fi Only, the ability to store maps offline on your memory card, and change for travelers who tour to Asia and Europe.

Wi-Fi Only mode will redirect you to the offline files, even when connected to a 3G or 4G network. This feature is certainly useful for users who use Google Maps abroad.

When you are outside the area of internet connection, Google will not use your mobile data. This means that the map will only be updated to include the missing part when connected to a Wi-Fi network.

With the inclusion of this feature, Google has deleted Area Offline mode, which is pre-loaded maps will stop as soon as possible when the device is connected to a cellular signal.

On its official blog, Google explained that this new mode can also save battery. “When you want to save the data, you can switch to ‘Wi-Fi Only’ using Google Maps completely offline on Android,” he wrote.

Another major change is the ability to store maps offline. “Entry-level smartphone comes with 4GB of internal storage capacity, while the higher models range between 8GB and 32GB,” added Google.

Saving Map on MicroSD Cards

The majority of smartphone users, it may not be enough capacity to store video, music, apps and photos.

“To ensure all Google Maps users can download and use offline mode when they need it, we have added the ability to download maps offline to a microSD card,” said Google.

Google said, using maps that have been downloaded to your microSD card, it will significantly improve navigation in an area that does not discount a good internet network coverage.

Navigation application also allows the user to choose between internal and external storage before the maps are stored for offline viewing.

The last update is to improve the integration of Google Maps with online taxi app in several countries in Europe and Asia. This feature allows users to easily compare taxi fares online without having to open multiple applications.
